About Kinetic Data

Kinetic Data is the build platform for AI-enabled business. Its Kinetic platform lets organizations build applications, workflows and agent-ready processes on top of the systems they already own, with AI generating the experiences and workflows and people and agents working in the same process.

We started by building on BMC Remedy, and never stopped building on top

In 1998 the big service management systems were good at keeping records and hard for anyone outside IT to use. Our first customers didn't want to replace them. They wanted a request form an employee could fill in without training, and a way to route the work that followed.

That is still the job. The systems have multiplied (ERP, HRIS, CRM, a data warehouse, and now AI agents), and people still build spreadsheets and side apps to get around them. We spend our time on the layer above.

  1. 1998 John Sundberg founds Kinetic Data.
  2. The BMC Remedy years Our first products, Kinetic Task and Kinetic Survey, added request forms and task automation to BMC Remedy so customers didn't have to replace it. Most of what we do today grew out of that habit.
  3. One platform Those products became Kinetic: one platform with an experience layer for the screens people use, a workflow layer that runs the process, and an integration layer that talks to the systems of record.
  4. October 2024 James Davies succeeds John as CEO. John becomes Chairman.
  5. 2026 AI now drafts the portals and workflows inside Kinetic through MCP, and AI agents work in the same processes as the people they support.

Buy the commodity systems and build the work that sets you apart

Nobody wins by writing their own payroll system. But the client portal, the approval that crosses five departments and the decision an analyst makes with an AI assistant are where organizations differ, and off-the-shelf software rarely fits them.

We think those should be built, on a shared framework, so the tenth application costs a fraction of the first. That framework is Kinetic. Read how the platform is put together.

One platform in three layers

The experience layer is what people see: portals, forms and apps. The workflow layer runs each process the same way every time. The integration layer reads from and writes to the systems you already run. Every application built on Kinetic reuses all three.

Kinetic architecture: people and AI agents work through three layers: the Experience layer, the Workflow layer and the Integration layer. Those layers connect to the systems and data the organization already runs. Native agent work exchange in the Integration layer is in development.

Native agent work exchange. Agents pick up and hand off work in Kinetic as participants in the process, the same way people do. Agents already start work today through MCP and the REST API.
